Joey began her voiceover career in the political world with her very first job being a series of campaign ads during the 2008 election. In the years since, she has voiced not only for candidates all across the country, but also for major brands like Office Depot, American Express, Google, and Samsung. Hailing from Illinois, Joey has a love for Abraham Lincoln that, if we’re being honest (and since we’re talking about Abe we have to be), borders on obsession.
Joey most frequently voices for commercials, corporate narration, eLearning, and medical narration, and delivers a good balance of being warm, friendly, and conversational, while still feeling knowledgeable, and intelligent with a little authority.
Studio DetailsJoey works out of a broadcast quality home studio that includes a Studiobricks isolation booth, Neumann TLM-103 or Sennheiser 416 microphone, Universal Audio Apollo Solo interface, and Pro Tools for recording.
Turnaround TimeEastern Standard Time (EST, GMT-5). Joey is based in Washington DC and can offer same day turnaround, possibly even immediate turnaround. For jobs that are deemed urgent she can be available outside of traditional business hours.
Connection DetailsJoey is able to connect for live directed voiceover sessions via Source Connect, ipDTL, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, phone patch, and Zoom.
If Joey had a tag line it would be, “small town Midwestern charm with big city hustle.” She can be heard in commercials, corporate narration, eLearning and educational content, medical narration, explainer videos, in-app narration, telephone systems or IVR, and web videos where the listener is everyone from farmers to financiers. It is this malleability that has lead to a successful career in voiceover and a slew of happy clients.
Although Joey is currently based in Washington DC, she began her acting career in New York City by getting her MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School at New School University. After graduating she quickly found her way into the world of voiceover, and has been happily planted there ever since.
She can be heard on television and radio commercials all across the country, pre-roll and streaming commercials, social media advertising, and streaming radio services like iHeart Radio and Spotify. She’s very good as saying things like “One day sale!” and “talk to your doctor…” without it sounding, you know, announcer-y.
Joey’s vocal wheelhouse tends to be sounding like a mom, a best friend, a teacher, a wife, a trusted coworker, or a caring nurse. After a lot of deep breathing and taking a moment to be in the present, she also pulls off a meditative voice that people on apps tend to enjoy.
Need someone who gives you a Jennifer Lawrence, Francis McDormand, Rashida Jones, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Cecily Strong, or Allison Janney kind of vibe? Joey can do that. How about Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, Julie Bowen, or Amy Poehler? Yep, them too.
In addition to voiceover, Joey also works as a live event announcer, emcee, and VOG at events around the country. They include announcing the New York City Marathon for the past 13 years, commencement ceremonies for Pratt Institute and Pace University at Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden, and countless galas, award ceremonies, expos, and fundraisers.
Joey’s top 3 favorite presidents are Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson in that order (yes, she has taken the time to rank them).
In addition to providing voiceovers for Democrats and progressives and mission-driven organizations, Joey feels particularly passionate about : Health Care Reform, Gender Equality, Climate Change, LGBTQ+ Equality, Immigration Reform
